When is the Right Time to Launch a New Journal?
Many journal publishers wrestle with the question of whether and when to add a new journal to their existing titles. Will there be enough subscribers, editors, and reviewers? Might folding new subject matter into an existing journal be a safer course of action? If the decision is to go ahead, should the new journal be e-only or should print delivery also be an option? What articulated policies do organizations have for vetting proposals for new journals?
