When is the right time to feed dog?
It’s always difficult to know when exactly to drop the third meal (this would be lunch) but I’d leave him until he’s closer to 5 months before dropping it completely. You could ‘ease into’ dropping lunch by giving him slightly less then, and upping the amounts you give him for the other two meals. I’d actually feed him, depending on your own routine, closer to 7 am, and then noon, and then not later than 5 in the afternoon. This would give him more time to digest his last meal before bedtime. But it does depend on his weight really. I’d ask his breeder what she recommends – breeders should always know best in terms of correct rearing and what works best for their bloodlines. Add – As the Doberman is another breed that’s prone to Bloat, I’d keep him on 2 meals a day (splitting his daily feed into two). And don’t exercise him for 2 hours after feeding, and don’t feed him for 1 hour after exercise. This allows his system to settle down before hitting it with food.
