When is the PR scheme extended from 1 to 5 years?
The PR status is to be renewed every year and is automatically renewed providing the yearly commitments prescribed by the scheme are adhered to. The Uniform Residence Permit (sticker in the passport) is also renewable every year but after 5 years renewal, the applicant might be granted a new Residence Sticker with a validity of 5 years. However, the Permanent Residence status would still need to be renewed annually.
