There are several reasons why women express breast milk, these include; expressing for a premature or sick infant; expressing to increase your supply or expressing to store breast milk for a later date. Nicole you have stated that you want to express without compromising your babies supply. Any amount of expressing for what ever reason will help to increase your milk supply so put your mind at ease. The important thing to remember is that baby should always have first option at the breast, so what this means is that you should always breastfeed prior to expressing.
