The initial submission deadline for payment year 2003 data (discharge dates: July 1, 2001 through June 30, 2002) is September 6, 2002. September 27, 2002 is the last day that hospital inpatient data will be accepted by the existing encounter data processing system. This means that the reconciliation data for payment year 2002 submission deadline is also due by September 27, 2002 (discharge dates: July 1, 2000 through June 30, 2001). The payment year 2003 submission deadline for reconciliation data (discharge dates: July 1, 2001 through June 30, 2002) is September 30, 2003. As of October 1, 2002, all risk adjustment data (hospital inpatient, hospital outpatient, and physician data) submitted using the new format will be accepted by the new system.
