When is the best time to travel the Garden Route?
The Garden Route is a year-round destination, although the best time for warm sunny weather and minimal rain is from December to February. This is the peak season, however, so during this time Garden Route accommodation rates are at their highest thanks to the great demand. To avoid the massive influx over South African school holidays but still enjoy the lovely warm weather, November and March to April are your best bet. July and August are the coldest months (although still mild) on the Garden Route – but they are also peak whale season.
