When is the best time to switch mobile phone providers?
If you’re on a monthly contract then the best time to switch providers is obviously toward the end of your contract period. If you cancel your contract before it expires, you will be liable to pay the monthly fee until the contract ends. If you are on a pay-as-you-go contract then you can switch at any time. However, it’s a good idea to use up any credit you may have on your Sim-card as you will not be able to transfer credit to a new account on a different network. Remember, if you want to retain your current mobile number you will need to apply for your new contract and give your new provider the PAC (see above) before your current contract ends. Otherwise your mobile phone number will be deactivated.
