When Is the best time for puppies to leave their mother?
For smaller breeds it’s always better to wait until the puppies are at least 12 weeks old. This is a crucial time for them to be with their mother and siblings because this is where they learn certain behaviors from the mother! They end up having better temperaments in the long run! Normally for larger breeds, they can stay with mom and siblings, for at least 8 weeks and no younger! When I used to my Chihuahuas, I never adopted out any of my puppies, until they were at least 12 weeks old. They are all now in their forever homes, they all have great temperaments and are healthy and happy!
