When is the best age to start dating or having a boyfriend?
Yes, I think you are too young. I would wait until about 16. I don’t think it’s a bad thing to be attracted to a boy or spend some extra time with him when you’re 13, but I do think that you’re still a bit young to be exclusive with him or call him your boyfriend. I would stay friends, hang out and get to know each other more, then see what happens in the next few years. And Roderick has a good point … hanging out in groups is a good idea. At 13, you are going through a lot of changes and you may not be sure of what you want (him too), so being exclusive and being alone a lot may be a bad idea. You don’t want to do something you’ll regret later on.
13 seems like an ideal age to have boyfriend. What you need to keep in my mind though is that at that age, in terms of the physical aspect of the relationship, you shouldn’t be doing anything more than kissing. Try to avoid anything sexual. Right now t 13 you will like boys and boys will like you. Kissing, holding hands and cuddling here and thereis good enough, sex or anything relating to sex should not come into the equation, you don’t need to be doing anything more than what i just said. You will find though that at this age you might go through quite a bit of boyfriends….which is good, (dont worry your not a whore), your simply just exploring, which is where it all starts. So just stick to that and you are good to go.
