When is personal bias understandable and when is it unforgivable?

Personal bias is not only understandable but is useful when traveling through an area where you notice you are the only person of your kind (i.e. race, religion, ethnic) and unwanted attention is being placed upon you. Perhaps you’ve done nothing to draw attention to yourself other than being where you are. In such case, it would be best to withdraw as soon as possible. Bias is unforgivable and even stupid when a law-enforcement officer comes to escort you out of said area and you refuse because they are not like you.
