Before you install Oracle Internet Directory and Oracle Directory Integration Platform 11g, note the following: • Oracle Directory Integration Platform 11g requires an existing Oracle WebLogic Server domain. • Oracle Internet Directory does not require a domain. However, if you install Oracle Internet Directory without specifying a domain, then you will not be able to manage the Oracle Internet Directory instance with Fusion Middleware Control or Oracle Directory Services Manager. Note that you can later use an OPMN command to register the standalone Oracle Internet Directory instance with a domain where Oracle Directory Services Manager is configured. For more information, see “Registering an Oracle Instance or Component with the WebLogic Server” in the Oracle Fusion Middleware Administrator’s Guide for Oracle Internet Directory. When you install the Oracle WebLogic Server software on disk, you create a directory called the Middleware home, which contains the Oracle WebLogic Server so
