When is okay to release a blue tounged skink and where?
It is illegal to release captive reptiles into the wild population. If this is a short term, wild caught specimen, you need to release it where you found it. If it’s a long term captive…longer than several months, you cannot turn it loose. You have the potential of releasing unknown pathogens into the wild population. This is the reason there is a world wide loss of frogs…..release of captive frogs into the wild population. They brought a fungus into the wild animals that they had no immunity to. Do not release. If you can no longer care for the animal, try a pet store or rescue.
