When is my last chance to invest through the Direct Stock Purchase Plan and still be entitled to split shares?
If you purchase shares any time prior to the close of business on the Record Date, which is May 28, 2010, you will be entitled to split shares. Between the Record Date, and the Distribution Date, which is June 8, 2010, two separate markets will exist for General Mills’ Common Shares. Shares trading under the symbol “GIS” will continue to trade at the higher pre-split price in the “regular way market.” If you buy shares trading “the regular way”, you will receive shares with “due bills”, meaning the seller transfers his rights to the split shares to you. For information about “when issued” trading, you should contact your broker.
