When is it ok to plant a lemon tree ?
I recommend planting when their main growth is fairly dormant, although their roots may still grow, which is autumn through to early spring time. This partly depends on what your winter weather is like, as really harsh extremes should be avoided, whilst your plants suffer some transplant shock. So, that’s the optimum time, but otherwise potted lemons can be planted at any time of the year, if you give them good after care, ensuring that they are watered well, and that they don’t suffer from any invasive attacks, such as insects or fungal infections. Plants that experience transplant stress are more prone to other problems afterwards, which move in on stressed plants. If you have a plant now, then you could plant this, subject to your being able to look after it afterwards, for a good month or so, as well as giving it effective summer care. Any fruits that are in development may be harmed or lost from being transplanted, so this could also affect your timing. I generally wouldn’t transp
