It might never be. Vista has very strict digital rights management for the playback of video, and requires codec makers to jump through lots of hoops to write a codec that is compatible with Vista. It remains to be seen if DivX are prepared to give Microsoft all the details of their codec just to make it Vista compatible. So far they’ve been very reluctant, and I don’t blame them.
