When is deadly force neccessary during making an arrest?

I read the article – very interesting. I believe “deadly force” is only necessary when a suspect is holding a readily identifiable weapon (gun, knife, crowbar, etc.) and does not heed the police officer’s command to “drop it.” Or if the suspect is charging the officer and that officer is in fear of his/her life. There has been too many cases where an officer thought a cell phone or something similar was a weapon, and fired upon the suspect – killing him/her. The suspect should also take responsibility for his/her own actions. They need to drop whatever they are holding in their hands. May be if the police academies would give their cadets more training in this particular field – there might be less incidents. I know that police officers get killed every day across the nation because bad people don’t value human life, and until that changes there will always be cases of “unnecessary force.” After all, the police officers have the right to protect themselves.
