When is Borderline personality disorder being recognised..?
There’s a quite furious little debate on this going on in the profession, some are almost trying to get it recognised as neurological,as the limbic system seems to be affected as if there were organic disease present. Other approaches are to rename this Dyslimbia or emotional dysregulationDisorderr. My take on this is the label is not nice, some people feel it kind of says they have no persona. It’s a very old term used to describe what was initially thought to be on the border of neurosis and psychosis- it is a strange fact that one could be diagnosed with this in the US and not the UK/EU or vice versa. It sounds judgemental and i think whatever help a person needs should be sought and given at a high quality. As for the law side it’s common for people to not get the protection they need when in a crisis, but i’m not clued up on Law re this terminology. I wish you good luck- try not to despair-there’s help!
