When is an Animal Care and Use Application Form Required?

0

An approved Animal Care and Use Application Form is required if any one of the following conditions are met: 1. Funding for any aspect of the project flows through accounts administered by the IUSM. 2. Animals are owned by the IUSM or by an investigator employed at IUSM. 3. Animals will be ordered through, housed, euthanized or disposed of in IUSM facilities. 4. IUSM personnel will conduct any part of the proposed experiments in an IUSM laboratory with a whole animal. Note: For those studies proposing the use of zebrafish embyros less than 4 days old, the investigator need only send a letter to the committee that briefly outlines their use. Only those studies proposing to use embryos 4 days or older will require an animal care and use application form. For those studies proposing the use of embryos that develop in ovo, please contact the IACUC office at somiacuc@iupui.edu.
