– T he gas supply leading to the gas fire unit must pass through a gas solenoid unit, which is itself linked electrically to the mechanical fan unit. The gas fire must not be operational if the fan is not operating. The solenoid valve will only allow gas to pass to the gas fire unit after a pressure switch located at the top of the chimney / flue system in the fan unit has confirmed that the fan is operating. If the fan unit is switched off or there is a power failure, the solenoid will isolate the gas supply immediately. The gas fire unit still has its ODS in operation in addition to the gas solenoid unit.
