Yes there is more required. These lights get VERY hot. Do not install it anywhere except for a fixture that is listed for use with a 250W HID (high intensity discharge) lamp. There is quite a bit of additionally wiring that is needed. For about $50.00 you can get the 250 W HPS ballast kit. This kit consists of a ballast, a starter, and an ignitor. They must all 3 be wired correctly, but the kit dose come with a wiring diagram. Also the lamp holder (socket) must be heavy duty – pulse – rated. These cost about 10 to 15 bucks. But again, do not install it in a fixture that is not designed for this type of lamp – they get very hot.
