You can’t get messenger by itself anymore. It’s part of that whole schlemiel, the Windows Live package that has among others Windows Live Writer, Windows Live Mail, Windows Live Toolbar, Windows Live Messenger 2009 blah blah blah. That installer is a real pain, as is typical with many installers of the same type. However, this link outlines a way to get at the messenger only installer: http://www.webtlk.com/2008/11/17/downloa… Basicaly you are going to run Messenger.msi in the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\Windows Live\.cache\ and then a few others that messenger will moan about if they are missing. If this fails, you are probably going to have to use their installer, not cancel, and hope it completes with no hiccups.
