You’ll need to determine if this is a recording problem or a playback problem. To determine which one it is you’ll need to start with a new file in Cakewalk. Click the Record button and play 4 notes. Stop recording and open the Event list view from Cakewalk’s View menu. If you see 8 note events look at the Channel column in the Event list. If there are 2 different Channel numbers listed in this column, then your instrument is transmitting on multiple channels. You should configure your instrument to transmit on only one channel. It is also possible to have Cakewalk ignore input on certain channels in the Options | Global | Filter dialog.
