When I press SCAN it says “-Not Ready-” in the lower line. Whats up with that?
“Not Ready” indicates your vehicle computer is conducting DEQ performance tests. The tests will complete in a few hours to a few days depending on how much driving is done. “Ready” indicates the tests are completed and you are ready for the DEQ test station. If there is no check engine light or code stored you should pass, however, there is no guarantee. Federal mandate has required vehicle computers to be very sensitive in turning on the check engine light. Dealerships often reprogram vehicle computers to make them less sensitive to turning on the check engine light during the warranty period to limit false alarms when nothing is wrong.
