There are different expectations with singles and albums (and please do remember that vinyl singles can be either 7 inch or 12 inch, whereas LP albums are always 12 inch). You should always, and I mean ALWAYS get the picture sleeve with a vinyl LP album unless the listing very clearly states otherwise. I would be very annoyed if I didn’t, and would send the album back for a refund. It’s part of the attraction of owning the album in the first place. Singles (7 inch and 12 inch) are a different matter, as they didn’t always come with picture sleeves in the past. In the 1970s and earlier, especially, they often came in a generic company sleeve, which would be either Epic or Motown records in the case of Michael Jackson. If the particular single I was buying originally came with a picture sleeve, though, I would expect to get this with the record. From the early 80s onwards, most singles came in picture sleeves.
