When I logon to a QuakeWorld server, I often get a message saying I was disconnected or I get a network error. What gives?
Getting disconnected happens sometimes and you have to live with it. It can be due to a server crash or a network glitch. Without leaving the game, just type RECONNECT at the Quake console. This always works. If you get a lot of network errors during a QuakeWorld game, especially “U_Remove On Update” errors, then you may have a poor network connection. Sometimes hanging up and reconnecting helps. A bad phone connection can also be the cause of this – especially if it’s followed by your Internet provider disconnecting you. If you have a noisy phone line, you’re going to have problems – contact your phone company and get it fixed. Dreaded U_Remove errors can also be caused by using a US Robotics X2 modem, or if your Internet provider supports X2 modems (even if you don’t have one). Click here for some solutions…
