When I lock a front door handle from Schlage, can I use something other than the deadbolt?
A. Entrance handles from Schlage come with a deadbolt that provides the locking function. The thumblatch and the interior knob or lever only retracts the latch – they do not lock the door. We think the designers have eliminated the push-button lock from the entrance handle because most folks access their homes through the door to the garage and the front door remains bolted 90 percent of the time.
