When I load data I get the error Could not get unique identifier from file /home/db/SiliconGenetics/GeneSpring/data/xxxNumber.txt ?
Make sure you have read and write permissions to the file xxxNumber.txt. In Bio-Linux, login as manager and change the permissions with the command: sudo chmod 666 /home/db/SiliconGenetics/GeneSpring/data/xxxNumber.txt Problems like this should not arise if you have upgraded to version 7.3 of GeneSpring on Bio-Linux. Please check that you are running the latest version of GeneSpring. • I get an error saying “Genespring is running low on memory. If your computer has additional memory available, you can improve performance by increasing the ‘Desired Memory use’ setting in the preferences window”? Adjust the Desired Memory Use setting in the preferences window (edit->preferences->system) to 70% of available RAM (amount recommended by GeneSpring). In the case of Bio-Linux this is 700MB. You can also change the number of processors available if you have more than 1. Remember to restart GeneSpring to effect these changes. If you have an ‘out of memory’ error please refer to this information.
