When I grill, how far away should the grill be placed from a house with Vinyl siding?

I recently bought a propane/gas grill, and they were very clear in their instructions – do not cook under any overhang, do not cook in an enclosed space (screen porch), and do not cook within 10 feet of any structure. That’s the recommendation of the manufacturer of my grill (Char-Broil). Others may have other advice. And of course, they may be exaggerating to reduce their legal liability in case someone sets their house on fire. But that’s the official word. In my unofficial opinion, 6-7 feet is probably ample.
