It could be some part of your washer rusting, but I doubt it. This happens periodically at our cottage, where the water is high in iron. What happens is the iron builds up in certain places in the machine, such as the intake screens where the flexible hoses attach in the back. Check these, and thoroughly clean them if there is rusty gunk on them. What happens is that the water is good enough so you don’t notice the iron content, but sometimes a rust build-up will dislodge, enter the washer, and ruin your clothes. I have not been able to remove such rust stains. The idea of running CLR through the machine would not hurt, but my guess is the intake screens.
