When I connect my receiver to my television or video display using both composite and S-video connections, the display goes blank when a composite video source is playing. What is happening?
This is due to the way your television or video display works, and you may wish to consult the owner’s manual for that unit for more information. You probably connected all of your video cables to the same video input on the TV. While this means you don’t have to remember to switch inputs on your TV every time you change your source (e.g. going from the VCR to the cable box), if your TV always gives priority to the S-video signal, it will go blank when you switch to a composite video source, even though there is no signal going through the S-video cable. The solution may be to plug your composite and S-video cables into separate inputs on your TV.
