When I click on Webaid from ULINK, I get a blank screen. What should I do?
If an employee/facutly/staff has been given access to Webaid, but is still having problems accessing Webaid because it automatically shuts itself down, the web browser “blows up”, etc., then check the following: 1. Is Jinitiator physically installed on the computer: See if these programs exist on the hard drive: c: \program files\oracle\jinitiator 1.2.x.x\java.exe and java.exe. 2. Is the default homepage an inordinately “busy” one with lots of flashy advertisements [yahoo.com, msn.com, etc]? If so, change the home page to “louisiana.edu” or “google.com” — something very plain with absolutely NO java-contant. Be sure to restart the browser after making the change 3. Are there ANY toolbars running [YahooToolBar, GoogleToolBar, etc]? If so, turn them “off:” [View/T oolbars/Uncheck] or better uninstall them. 4. Almost ANY “Instant Messager” program cannot be running. They can be installed, but they can’t be running when someone tries to connect to WebAid. [No AIM, YM , MSNLiveChat; Google
