When & how did the USI College Republicans start?
On August 30, 2001, an official meeting was convened for the startup of the USI College Republicans. This came after more than 3 years without an organization such as this on the University of Southern Indiana campus. There are reasons these individuals had a vision to start such a venture. It was seen that a man in elected office would do wonderful things in the name of integrity and America. This man was John N. Hostettler, Congressman of Indiana’s 8th District. Congressman Hostettler was able to deny Political Action Committee money, deny the Congressional vehicles, and deny anything that increased the sphere of power or influence of the federal government or the taxes of the people. It is something rare in power to see such a man, willing to do this based on Principle. He had integrity in the truest sense and to this day we are very thankful that he took up the calling to serve us as Congressman! Thank you Congressman Hostettler!
