When Good LEDs Go Badder?
In “LED Madness #1” we created a networkable product to independently control 16 high wattage LEDs with a single circuit board. For the “Giant LED Driver” we’ve created a completely new framework for independently driving many more LEDs. As result of the work done on SoundSwarm we’ve created a reusable, rock solid, FPGA framework for driving many analog things. We’re using our new FPGA framework from “SoundSwarm” and combining it with the driver setup from “LED Madness #1” to create “Giant LED Driver”. This project will make it possible to drive 96 LEDs from a single board. An FPGA will generate rock solid timing and diming routines to make control of a huge number of high-power LEDs easy. Furthermore, a new bootloading scheme has been developed to make updating the FPGA core a snap from a connected Linux or Windows based computer! This project is in the prototyping stage, but soon a functional test setup will be complete and we’ll have a Las Vegas light show of 96 LEDs setup in the sh
