When getting marriage license, can I shorten my maiden name and add his?
You don’t change your name on your marriage license. When you get your marriage license, you get it before you actually get married so it has your maiden name on it and not your married name. After your license is filed, you will receive a copy in the mail so that you can start legally changing your name. I received my copy about 30 days after I got married.
