When Environmental Steering is activated, the hearing instrument seems to stop working and it seems like there is no amplification. Why?
This is actually expected, as the Environmental Classifier takes approximately 20 seconds to classify the environment upon activation.In most cases, this feature will be activated in a clinic where there is speech taking place, and most likely ambient noise. The feature is designed to reduce the Tinnitus Sound Generator (TSG) volume in speech environments, or noisy environments, hence why the volume decreases. The volume will again increase after about 20 seconds.
