stuff is on sale now, some of it will be better then northface and cost less if you look on dogfunk.com sierrasnowboard.com the-house.com you will find deals, they will be called snowboarding jackets but they are made to keep snowboarders warm on the mountain and would certainly work for what you plan to do Don’t get tunnel vision and only look at northface/columbia because you can get better and not pay as much
