When does the JCAHO begin scoring focused professional practice evaluation?
Under MS.4.30, the JCAHO requires medical staffs to conduct a focused professional practice evaluation for all initially requested privileges, beginning January 1, 2008. However, beginning January 1, 2007, the JCAHO requires that the medical staff develop criteria for conducting focused professional practice evaluations of practitioners credentialed and privileged through the medical staff process when a question arises about whether the practitioner provides safe, high-quality patient care.
