Goodbye Boring Summer. Hello To The World’s Biggest Water Playground! What do you get when you combine a Utah summer with more than 1500 feet of water slides, a 400-foot lazy river, more than 300 interactive water features, and half a million gallons of water? The answer: Cowabunga Bay – the newest, coolest, wettest, water attraction opening June 12th in Draper. “Cowabunga” is surf slang for “awesome” and that is exactly what Cowabunga Bay is designed to be. It is the latest and greatest development from the Huish Entertainment group headquartered in Seattle, WA. Adventurers, both young and old, can navigate through 225 winding feet of waterdrenching bridges, tunnels and net climbs found throughout Cowabunga’s six story play structure. Thrill seekers can drop 50 feet on “Bombora” one of Cowabunga Bay’s highspeed water slides. It’s been cold, it’s been rainy, but that isn’t stopping Utah’s newest water park from opening its doors Friday. One of the owners of Cowabunga Bay in Draper, Shane Huish, says it was hailing on them as they worked on the finishing touches Thursday night, but he says, oh well. He says the water is heated to 82 degrees, so guests can have a good time, even if it is raining. With that in mind, the park will open as scheduled. “We worked ‘til about 1:30 in the night last night, so we’re good to go,” Huish said. Huish says the water play structure is basically a water park stacked six stories high. Some of the water toys include a giant bucket of water, waterslides, a lazy river and a wading pool. You can visit the park’s official site here: http://www.cowabungabay.com The park is located in Draper on S. Factory Outlet Dr. (State St.) just north of the 12300 exit. Address: 12047 S. Factory Outlet Dr.
