When does the driving age change ?
The rumour that the driving age is rising to 18 has been around for as long as I can remember, certainly back as far as when I was learning to drive nearly 20 years ago! Don’t worry…the Driving Standards Agency who run the driving tests have, this Summer, started a consultation regarding changes to the way learner drivers are taught and tested. This would have been a golden opportunity to increase the age for learning or taking a test but they did not include this in the consultation. The consultation, like all of these things will take many years to come to fruition and, when it does, will be in a vastly watered-down form. It will mean some significant changes to the test, but even so, they won’t be implemented for at least 5 or so years so should not affect you in any way. I hope that puts your mind at ease.
