When does the bulk of Dardens receptions occur during the admission season?
It varies. This trip was done very early in the year, in September. But I’m going back to Mexico later on this week, and we’ll be going to Asia in January and February. One of the things that’s concerned us — and, I guess, most MBA programs — is this decline in domestic applications. So we’ve gone to five U.S. cities this year that we didn’t visit before and we’ve started to do [Darden-only] prospective student and alumni receptions in cities where we previously only went for MBA Forums. Q: Some schools, such as Wharton, have developed electronic scheduling systems to make it easier for, say, people in the former Soviet Union to find out exactly when the school will be recruiting nearby, and then set up an interview electronically. Does Darden operate a similar system? A: Yes, we’ve had that for the last two years.
