When does study for the Bar/Bat Mitzvah begin?

0

The foundation for Bar/Bat Mitzvah preparation takes place throughout a childs religious education so that he/she is familiar with the basics of Jewish history, traditions, values, prayers and the Hebrew language. When the students are in 5th grade, they experience their first of several Bar Mitzvah workshops with their parents and general preparation begins from there. Individualized instruction with the Cantor and/or Hebrew tutor begins approximately six months before the Bar/Bat Mitzvah date. You will also meet with the Rabbi or other teaching staff to begin working on your DVar Torah during this time. We involve family as much as possible in order to make the process a true journey of self discovery and personal meaning rather than simply a religious rite of passage.
