When does one sign make a DNR document ?
If you chose to speak with your doctor about signing a DNR, be sure to make stipulations for certain case scenarios, and be sure that they are put on the DNR. In example, in some states, by signing a straight DNR with no stipulations a patient cannot so much as have oxygen delivered to the home when losing a battle with cancer. Oxygen often helps a person with less suffering while they are passing, however if the DNR does not state “oxygen use allowed”, it can be brutal. Be sure to discuss certain options that can be stipulated on a DNR rather than a generic form. I also highly recommend that every person take time, whether they are 18 or 98 and go over their own wishes, then generate a “living will”.
