Generally, Hydrosaver sequencing yields savings on any system; however, applying it to every system is poor engineering practice. In order to understand why, it is important to examine the payback in energy savings for a particular system. It is also important to understand the level of control required to achieve the desired sequencing. Rule of Thumb Lets examine the first point. An energy analysis will yield the desired results; however, it may be time consuming to do this for every system. Here are some good rules of thumb to use. • Duplex Systems: If the combined horsepower of the system is 10 or greater, three steps of sequencing will pay for the extra costs in controls within a year. • Triplex Systems: If the combined horsepower of the system is 20 or greater, four steps of sequencing will pay for the initial costs within a year.
