When does alcohol go out of date?
If unopened Beer, wine, malt beverages (alcopops), and liquors may expire, but they will never go bad. That is to say there is NOTHING in them that will harm you if you consume them after expiration. Higher quality beers and wines can be aged for decades. Cheaply made beers, wines and alcopops will begin to develop off flavors after the expiration, lose carbonation…but they will never harm you. Liquor unopened will last almost indefinitely regardless of quality. Opened liquor will suffer a small amount of alcohol evaporation… this is so minor that you will never notice the difference. It will remain drinkable to decades even after opening. For the record: I collect and age beer. I currently have over 250+ individual bottles in carious stages of aging…yeah for those keeping track it went up…I went shopping.
