When does a fiscal year or biennium start and end?
A fiscal year begins on July 1 and ends on the following June 30. Local governments may also choose to budget on a biennial basis. A biennium is a 24-month period beginning on July 1 of one calendar year and ending on June 30 of the second calendar year following.
