As soon as the kittens stop suckling from a queen (female cat) then she becomes fertile and ‘on heat’ again which is why vets reccommend that you keep a queen indoors and away from any toms (boy cats) as soon as the last kitten is fully weaned if you intend to prevent further pregnancies
