When Do You Fly the Flag at Half Mast?
Many businesses and corporate spaces opt to fly the American flag to show their patriotism, particular if they are located in a conspicuous area where the colors will be highly visible. But flying the flag on a regular basis comes with very specific rules and responsibilities listed in the “Flag Code” that must be followed rigorously. The Code enumerates specific events and holidays where the flag must be flown at half staff, but the president or governor can also order a period of mourning by declaration, which would require the flag to be lowered.
