Standard 1.2.11 of the Food Standards Code is the new CoOL Standard, which outlines requirements for food businesses and retailers. Businesses have phase-in times to comply with the new regulations. The new CoOL requirements come into force on: • 8 June 2006 -For Unpackaged foods such as fruit, vegetables, seafood. This includes fresh and processed foods. It also includes fresh foods in packages that do not obstruct the nature or quality of the produce. • 8 December 2006 – For unpackaged fresh and processed pork • 8 December 2007 – For packaged foods, plus a 12 months grace period for existing stock.
