When do students need to start keeping track of community service hours and how do they do that?

Community service hours are not required for graduation from high school in LVUSD. However, many colleges require students to do volunteer work and to submit evidence of that when submitting a college application. Calabasas High does not keep track of community service hours for students – that is the responsibility of the students. A student can keep track of hours by requesting a letter from the organization which states what was done, when it was done, and for how many hours. Or have your student go into the College and Career Center at CHS and ask for a copy of a generic form that can be taken to the organization. Start a file folder and put all these letters in it, not to be needed again until it is time to apply to colleges.
