When do puppies first open there eyes and hear?
It takes anywhere from a week to two weeks and when they first open they are blue. If there is any drainage, take a soft washcloth with warm water and gently wipe away excess drainage. Generally it is 9 days. any sooner could be harmful to the puppy’s sight, and infection could occur. If it is close to 9 days, give or take a day or two, all is well. Just let it happen naturally. Sometimes, the eyes look as though they are opening at the center, but the sides or one side can still look like it’s glued shut. LEAVE IT ALONE! This is natural. They will open on their own, in their own time, but again, it is usually at about 9 days.
